Remarkable part: The ACR is supposed to have a lower top speed, but the way that car takes up speed is mind-boggling. I was looking at both speedometers and just get baffled at the rate the Viper is going in comparison to the Z06/7.

So funny how it was once the Viper that tried to kill its owner with unpredictable handling. Now, that old Viper trait seems to have transferred and “infected” the Z06 Vette.

Same here-the Viper is down 5hp, 50 ft lb, has significantly more drag...granted, it weighs 100 lbs less, but still.

Seriously, I can’t remember the last time I saw a video of a car and it actually looked fast, like abnormally fast. That braking and instant 10mph jump in speed out of the corner is something else. That lap in the ACR was faster than the P1 one by the way. Randy did end up beating the 918s lap time according to the database. 1:28.6 vs 1:29.8. P1 was 1:30.7

It’s funny because all the other trims of the Viper are exactly like the Z06. So much performance it can’t be driven, so you give it even more and it becomes stable again. I’m excited that a RWD, V10, manual, few electronics, $100k plus car from Dodge has already caught up the hypercars on track. The ACR just saved everything we thought we would be losing.

It really is! It proved that the Hellcats in no way threatened the Vipers title as king. I’m just thinking how opposite the car is to its biggest track challenger, the Porsche 918 (apparently). I really want to see an Aventador SV in there as well.

Complete with it’s 1776mm rear wing.

A viper weighs a THOUSAND pounds less than a hellcat. Did someone actually think the hellcat was a superior car because it has 57 more hp?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

What I really found amazing is that the viper was consistently 10-15mph faster the whole time on the track.

It was seriously the braking, I have never seen those kinds of deceleration changes. Also, you’ll notice the Z06 pulls the exact same cornering Gs and acceleration changes as the ACR until about halfway when the Z06 starts falling under 1g.

Yes, everyone was saying hellcat the Viper and how the Viper should make the most power. The Viper is the track value equivalent of the Hellcats horsepower to price value. I think we always underestimate how Chrysler beats Hyundai and Kia when it comes to value.

There is no reason to hellcat the Viper at all. Dodge could EASILY add another 100 hp with just a few very minor revisions and keep it N/A.

I think the hellcat motor is a mighty fine motor but it is definitely not some sort of holy grail gold plated answer to all things motoring.

The Viper motor is severely under stressed 77HP/L at There is absolutely no reason one of those wouldn’t last 200,000 miles. The Hellcat probably won’t do so well in the long term.

I mean a base model Hyundai Accent has more HP/L at 86HP/L

I’ll keep my Viper with a big lazy V10 please.
